Zay’s Downtown Portrait Session
During the summer of 2021, I introduced the idea of Inspo-Sessions to my Instagram page. The gist of the idea was that I would post multiple shoot inspirations that I had gathered and wanted to replicate, and people could book them as their photoshoot idea. Zay was the first one to book an idea I posted, and it was the “Open Leather Shoot”.
Once we had created a mood board to solidify the overall theme of the shoot, the rest was a piece of cake! Downtown Charlotte (or Uptown as some people say) is one of my favorite places to shoot because I just love capturing the city vibe in photos, especially when the attire is creative, fashionable or out of the ordinary! We started shooting at the Green and the magic began!
All I can say is, I don’t think this Mellow Mushroom sign has ever looked better in photos before! The glow from the sign was too perfect to pass up!
Most people don’t see a fire hydrant as a must-shoot item. I however saw this as something so out of the ordinary that it would really enhance the shoot, and I’m so glad we stopped to shoot here. As we approached the end of the shoot, we ended at the Mint Museum and the Bechler Museum. I’ve never been a huge fan of shooting with the Firebird Statue, but I’ve got to say, I think I found one of the best ways to shoot it because these photos are phenomenal and Zay was serving all the looks! After getting a couple with the street lights, we ended on the color-changing steps of the Mint Museum, one of the most popular spots to shoot in Uptown.
